R.I.P. ARNETT “On June 24 Arnett, the leader & drummer of Salvation, passed away. He was a very loyal husband who raised two beautiful, well-balanced and accomplished
daughters. As a man, he was a rock, he was honest, compassionate,
incorruptible, loyal, moral, in short, he was a man of great integrity. As a friend, his friendship was unconditional, his
wisdom & advice were treasurable, his heart & love was immeasurable. As a musician he was wonderful to play with.
Although he was extremely talented, he was totally unselfish and focused. He never played anything to upstage another member,
or just to show off his talent. He played for the band. His aptitude for making each song breathe with dynamics and
life was supreme. His timing and disciplined style allowed the rest of us to shine brightly in the spotlight. Musicians like
this are an extremely rare breed. He was a wonderful drummer and a good singer, who could sing lead as well as harmony. As
a band leader he was never a hard nose, he never had to be. His insight, skills and wisdom, allowed him to lead by example.
Although the band was filled with top-notch young musicians, with egos and temperament to match, who sometimes were hard to
deal with (myself included) we soon came to realize we would follow this man blindfolded through the gates of hell. I learned so much from him about music, business, being a leader, and most of
all, being a good man. My heart is very heavy with grief now, but I know I will play with him again, and maybe if we are worthy,
we can follow him through the gates of heaven.”
